Last Night

March 31, 2008

Well, it struck me quite suddenly...it's a girl. I am not sure where it came from, or why, but I feel girl. Here I had been thinking boy and out of the blue (no pun intended) I thought....GIRL. So who knows, maybe tomorrow I will be back on the boy track, but right now, I am back to a pink world. That's ok too, only a slight gear change.
Any thoughts? What are all you guys thinking? Boy or Girl? Either way

Funny 4 year old thoughts

March 20, 2008

So my life is full of my kids saying interesting things, that I always seem to forget to write down. Today was just one of those situations. Since scrap booking has been on semi-permanent hiatus, I will jaunt down those profound little kid things here....
As we were pulling out to go to daycare this AM, Josie starts in about not wanting a sister, at least not the one she wants. She wants a new sister...."or brother" she says.... I respond that this is an awful thing to say and that Natalie is a great sister...blah blah blah....
I go one to say, PLUS, we don't KNOW what we have in there, could be a boy or girl. She says to me....."Like at McDonalds when you don't know which toy you are going to get? It's a surprise?"
I could have just stopped the car to give her a big squeeze. "Yes Jos, just like at McDonalds, it will be a big surprise in August"
Kids, gotta love 'em, even when they are tackling each other over who can hold the book-

more soon

Could it Be?

March 19, 2008

Today was another OB appointment and today the girls joined me. They were able to hear this elusive baby that is living in their mom's belly. The doppler was loud, so Natalie was a bit freaked. ( Our little noise-sensitive girl) Josie just stood and listened. Heart rate was in the 140's.....I say to myself...The girls heart rates were always in the 160's. Could it be? A boy? The wives tales are leading me to believe it is so, but we won't know until August. We have elected to wait until baby arrives to see if we are welcoming a little guy or gal. I imagine this will be the last time we take on this endeavor, so I will relish all the sweet surprises while I can!

Warm, Sunny, Snow Day

March 11, 2008

Can it be true? One picture? Two kids? Both smiling? HA! Success AT LAST!

Well today was a long over due day in the snow. the girls have really wanted to get out there, but it seems that the days we were all home together, it was a bit too chilly....you know, subzero. Today was the day. When the thermometer was reading 32 degrees at 8am, that was a good sign.

The girls had fun chipping ice, shoveling snow and playing on their play set in the backyard. Today was just a perfect day to play in the snow!

Carousel Ride

Natalie holding on. She was not nearly as certain about all of this as Josie was!

Josie was so excited about the carousel! She had a bit of a disappointing day, so this definitely brightened things up for her. We were supposed to hit the Children's Museum after Natalie's follow-up at Gillette's. Well, when we got to the parking ramp for the Children's Museum, the entrance as blocked and the sign stated the lot was full. This was a bad sign for me, as if the ramp is THAT full, so is the museum. So I told her we could go do something else fun. Since 3 of the outfits she tried on that AM did not fit (I SWEAR she grew overnight!) We went to go get her a couple new things to wear as a stop gap until summer.
When we got to Maplewood, she spotted the carousel right away. Once we we finished with the business part of the trip, we went for a ride on the carousel. Josie had so much fun, and Natalie seemed to have a more take it or leave it feel about the whole thing. Either way, Josie had a blast, and said her classic line "Mommy, it makes my tummy giggle!"
And that makes it all worth it, right?

News?

March 6, 2008

Well, since most of the people who read this know already, it isn't THAT big of news....We are having a baby this summer. The official date of expected arrival is August 28, 2008. Now, when this little creature will arrive is anyone's guess. Josie was a week early. Natalie 5 days late. I think we should start a babypool!
Since divulging the news, the most common question "Will you find out what you're having?" To this I answer "we're not sure" We do not NEED to know. Although inquiring minds do want to know! Today I think it is a boy. Well, really I have thought it is a boy for a while now. That being said, let me remind everyone that I was CERTAIN Natalie was a boy. So let's not plan on my intuition! No matter what, I am getting more and more excited as the weeks tick by. With as busy as we are, the weeks are ticking by quickly I might add.
Today I am 15 weeks, and I think, WHOA, time is movin'! Not to many people 15 weeks isn't far, but it is!
Anyhow. This is what we know today. The girls are excited. During breakfast last week Josie asked me "When you are eat, does the baby get your food too so it can grow?" Wow. What a smart little thing. I think that is a pretty big concept for a little brain to come up with. (I can be in awe of my own kids!) So we talked all about the baby growing and eating. Natalie just points to my belly and talks about the baby being in there and getting bigger and that mommy has a baby in her tummy, but daddy does not have a baby in his tummy. It is a lot of fun to see their brains wrap around the concept.
That's all I got for you. Thanks for reading!
