Nana Cuddles

August 30, 2008

Nana Tess came to visit today and got some quality cuddles with Miss Addison

5 Days...

Who doesn't love baby feet????
Ok, this one is out of order, but I thought it was pretty cute.

One Week Old

Well time is flying by at warp speed! As you all know, the time goes so fast once they arrive! Addison is a great baby! She is a mellow soul who loves to cuddle with mom.
The girls seem to be completely in love with her, at least so far. Josie wants to show her how to play with toys and Natalie sings to her quite often. Life with 3 girls is pretty great so far!!

Beautiful Girl

August 25, 2008

Well, it is official! My dream from a week ago was right on track! On Friday, August 22nd, we welcomed our 3rd baby girl!

MONARCHS!

August 20, 2008

Well, this AM I went out to check on our cocoons. Two of the 4 cocoons were black, and I thought I better get a photo. I lost track of time while laying on the couch being lazy. I went outside to check before I left the house, and we had two monarchs! The other two cocoons are still green, so a couple days to go I guess. Here are the photos of the latest additions (very brief) to our home!

Special Craft Day

August 18, 2008

Well I got a bug to go do something fun with the girls before baby arrives. I had set out to do a special day with each of them on their own, but ended up combining into one day. I knew Josie would love painting ceramics, but was not sure on Natalie, as she is not so artsy/crafty. We headed out to a local ceramics store. the girls picked out their own pieces and paint and set to work on creating their masterpieces. Natalie chose a tea cup/saucer set

I chose a coffee mug

Josie chose a bowl for "cereal, snacks, popcorn or grapes". Josie had a lot of fun, but Natalie was done very early in the game. I ended up finishing her painting. I guess it wasn't the BEST activity for a 3 year old, but what the heck.....Josie has fun and I will have beautiful ceramics to enjoy for YEARS to come..... word to the wise...expensive outing. So maybe only take the big kids if you go!

Biology revisited

Here are our caterpillars! They went into their cocoons last weekend. scott took some photos while I slept off working the night shift! Now all 4 are all curled up, and we are checking them every AM to see if they are emerging. I think it will be pretty awesome when they do, and I will be sure to keep you updated!!

It's A GIRL!!!!

August 16, 2008

....in my dreams, anyway....
Last night was really the first time I have dreamt about baby, and she was a big, happy, GIRL! Now, what, if anything that means, I am not sure. This baby seems content to hang out with me as long as possible. No news on baby's arrival anytime soon......
Josie has decided a girl will be called Lisa and a boy Benjamin John (same as always) Natalie has decided on Buttercup and Toasty should she be given a choice.......

What I do know is this...I wish I could have seen half of your faces when you read the subject line :)
Rest assured when this little creature arrives, you will all know :)
I will post a caterpillar update ASAP. They are all happy in their cocoons and the girls are anxious for them to emerge-
stay tuned.

Caterpillars

August 6, 2008

Ok, so i realize this first photo is rather gross, but it is only to show you, the reader, two things.
A. Look how big our little caterpillars have grown!
B. Look how much food they eat! I added these leaves Monday night, and now, Wednesday morning, GONE!

Here is a neat and clean photo of one little guy hanging out on his new, fresh, clean leaf. The other 3 were rolled up into balls after being touched. I cannot believe how fast they are growing.... oh where does the time go??? tee hee hee

National Night Out '08

We had the idea to get our little circle together for National Night Out. Denise coordinated the entertainment! We have two new families that moved into the cul de sac in the last month and 3 other families that we don't see much of. Denise was able to get us on the list for a city vehicle visit, but we had no idea which type of vehicle would be coming out! At 6pm, the big, yellow fire truck rolled in for the kids to see!

(L to R) Walker, Dennis, Natalie, Paige, Raegan, Josie in the back of the truck where we learned about their air tanks.
Natalie and Walker, fellow fire fighters

Almost all the kids in our cul de sac: Nick, Natalie, Josie, Beckett, Dennis, Lara, Paige, Walker, Raegan, Emma, Cole and boy from around the corner......and fire fighter Greg.

We had a good turn out for the grilling and visiting. Only two families did not attend the festivities this year. Maybe next year they will come out and play with us! It was nice to talk tot he neighbors and get to know the new neighbors too!
Later in the evening, we also got a visit from an unmarked police car and some of the kids got handcuffed....pretty funny

36 2/7

August 2, 2008

Greetings to all! To all those who do not want to read about the latest pregnancy news, just scroll down and read some riveting Caterpillar news!! Back to baby! Here we are 36+ weeks. Where does the time go? WHOA. Hard to believe we are in the home stretch, I do remember when I had 36 weeks to go.....

I will give a little update for those I have not talked to....last Saturday Scott and I made a trip to St. John's because I was contracting every 2-4 minutes. While the contractions were not painful, there were rather regular and there were a lot of them! After observing me for about an hour, they gave me a dose of terbutaline to stop the contractions. (Terbutaline is not fantastic. not awful, but not fantastic). Well, it worked and the contractions stopped. We were home by 11:30 pm. nothing like a little excitement to make you want to be in labor and have this whole thing done with! Since then, I have been rather antsy to be new baby tired instead of pregnant tired.

So here is the latest photo of baby and I. Natalie joined in for a hug and a kiss too. More soon....

Biology 101

A lady at work who home schools her children makes Monarch Kits each summer. This year (after talking with her and being convinced!) I bought a kit for the girls to watch how caterpillers become Monarch butterflies. Rachel convinced me I could find milkweed (the ONLY thing these little guys eat) anywhere. I was the last to jump on the bandwagon, so we got the runts of the litter...(they were really looking pretty wimpy!!!) I bought a kit and brought our 4 little friends home on Thursday morning and promptly forgot about them! this AM I went outside to find their leaves terribly wilted, but the caterpillers were double in size. Off the girls and I went to Target today and I was in search of milkweed. After my fourth stop along the side of the road I found the elusive plant! (Can you imagine what people were thinking as this pregnant woman was wading thru weeds along the side of the road?!?!?!?) We came home and cleaned out the cage and gave them some new food. They all look happy. The point to all of this? I am going to document their growth on the blog for all to see. I never got photos of our baby birds, so I suppose I better keep track of our butterflies.......... More to come....Biology for all!! Happy Saturday!!
